The daily rise in new coronavirus infections has been below 20,000 for 36 straight days and less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported for 139 consecutive days now.
Meanwhile, Covaxin, the coronavirus vaccine developed by the government’s medical research agency and Bharat Biotech, was found to have a 77.8 per cent efficacy rate against symptomatic COVID-19 in a long-awaited analysis published in The Lancet.

Andhra Pradesh reported 156 fresh cases of COVID-19, 254 recoveries and only one death in 24 hours ending 9 am on Saturday. The state COVID-19 chart has a total of 20,69,770 positives, 20,52,230 recoveries and 14,412 deaths so far. The active cases came down to 3,128, according to a health department bulletin.
