Afghanistan will initially have 110,000-member army, says c

Afghanistan will initially have an 110,000 members of the Member, the Taliban Defense Minister Mullah Muhammad Yaqoob Mujahid said, adding that the number would increase if needed.

Speaking to Media State, Mujahid said that around 10,000 people had been trained for the army since the Taliban took over August 2021, while an additional 80,000 had registered, Khaama Press reported on Tuesday.

He also said that 4,000 helicopters were reactivated, along with planes and vehicles.

About officers of the former Afghan government, the minister said that up to 90 percent of the Ministry of Defense employees were former officers and that they had left the country to be contacted to return to Afghanistan and continue their work.

Meanwhile, Mujahid denied rumors about Afghan military equipment transported to Pakistan and said that they truly managed the country’s borders and would not let anyone issue equipment.

He blamed Iran and Turkmenistan Neighbors for the recent clashes on the border together and said that Afghan guards had been directed to be careful, report Khaama Press.

Regarding Pakistani barbed wire along the Durand line, Mujahid said that the final decision on this issue had not been taken by the Taliban leadership.

Mujahid also underestimated the Islamic-Khorasan state, said that terror group was not a threat to Afghanistan.
