That 70’s Show coming back on Netflix!

‘That 70s Show’ left Netflix internationally in September 2020, and it has yet to find a new streaming home even after a whole year. However, with the launch of a new Netflix-exclusive spin-off, this might change. Could ‘That 70s Show’ be returning to Netflix? What’s the most recent news? Here’s what we know so far.The SVOD (streaming video on demand) rights of ‘That 70s Show’ were believed to be due for renewal in late 2019, and it was being said that the show will be leaving the streamer. That ultimately happened, with the whole series leaving Netflix worldwide in September 2020.

The program was successful on Netflix, but its popularity plummeted once it left the service. According to Nielsen, the series was the third most-watched sitcom on Netflix in 2020.

The program remained in the top 200-300 on IMDb’s Movie meter for the entirety of its Netflix run. It dropped to roughly 1,000 when it left. What distinguishes That 70s Shows from previous deletions such as The Office or Friends is that the title’s owner, Carsey-Werner, does not have a streaming platform that it requires.

Why isn’t there any Streamer ready to pick up That 70’s show?

One probable explanation for the show’s failure to find a home is similar to why Roseanne and The Cosby Show were deemed objectionable on your platform. The show’s image may be ruined as a result of Danny Masterson’s continuing court fights in 2021.

Furthermore, in this day and age of streaming M&A, we may be witnessing the program

being held back for a huge purchase, but nothing has been revealed to imply this is the case.

Carse- Werner’s library is brimming with great television series (something Netflix has been losing plenty of over the past half-decade). The duo has The Cosby Show, Cybil, A Different World, Whoopi Whoopi, The Tracy Morgan Show, 3rd Rock from the Sun, and Men Behaving Badly in their collection.

In late 2021, after a period of radio silence, there were some developments. In October, it was revealed that That 70s Show could be returning. As you may know, Carsey-Werner is collaborating with Netflix to create a new spin-off series called That ’90s Show. Gregg Mettler will return as showrunner, while Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp will star. The announcement suggests that Netflix may once again be the beneficiary of original programming. However, it was not stated in the press release. So, for the time being, you’ll need to look for other ways to watch your favorite show.

How will we be able to watch that 70’s show in 2021?

The easiest way to view the show right now, at least ad-free, is to buy it in more traditional formats.

If you don’t want to pay for the series outright in the United States, whether through VOD or boxset, you may still see it syndicated, including it regularly being streamed on Laff TV.

Do you miss Netflix’s That 70s Show? We would love to see Netflix reclaim the streaming rights, and add up any additional Carsey-Werner shows in the list for us to see.
